Our parish of Holy Cross here in Wendelin has been blessed for over 20 years by the presence of a remarkable man. To say that this man has merely been our priest is an understatement. This man has been our spiritual mentor, teacher, leader, friend, and most importantly a member of our family. During his two decade tenure here in Wendelin, Father David came to symbolize Holy Cross and bring out the very best in our parish family. The continued growth, flourishment, and beauty of our rural parish is a testament to his unwavering spiritual guidance and leadership. In the face of difficult obstacles Father David showed each of us how to face our challenges in life with strength, dignity, and grace. The measure of an individual is not weighed in riches or wealth but in the lives he has touched. Here in Wendelin, Father David has touched each of our lives many times over and left an indelible impression that will last forever. A few mere words here today can not express the immense gratitude we all have for everything Father David has done for our parish. Today, we are honored to have had Father David here in Wendelin for the past 20 years, and we are very very proud to call him one of our own. On this day, we thank God for sending us such a wonderful shepherd to guide his flock here in Wendelin and we pray that Father David may now find the rest, that he so deserves, in the peace of God’s Love.
